JMJ Dress Code

The JMJ dress code is established to protect the dignity and modesty of all members. We hope that everything we do, even what we wear, will glorify God. This dress code is for all JMJ Events.

"Purity requires modesty, an integral part of temperance. Modesty protects the intimate center of the person. It means refusing to unveil what should remain hidden. It is ordered to chastity to whose sensitivity it bears witness. It guides how one looks at others and behaves toward them in conformity with dignity of persons and their solidarity."

• Shoes are required at all times. 
• Hair should be clean and neat in style. 
• Clothing should not be tight. Undergarments should not be visible.
• Tops/dresses must cover the back and have a modest neckline. Shirts must be long enough to cover the midriff. Halters, tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.
• Shirts with writings or images that include anything anti-Christian, vulgar, unkind, scary, obscene, or promoting alcohol/drug use, etc. will not be permitted.
• Shorts, skirts, or dresses should be at least as long as the middle finger when arms are by their side. Leggings are permitted if being worn as an additional layer, as long as the outer garment reaches the same length listed above.
• When JMJ events include swimming, bathing suits should be modest and provide full coverage. Non-white shirts or cover-ups must be worn by males and females when not in the water.
• Anyone attending JMJ liturgical celebrations is expected to wear “Sunday best.”
• Out of respect for all liturgies and prayers and when pledging allegiance to the U.S. flag, male youth and adults should remove any headwear.
• When JMJ events include dance music, we hope all will feel welcome to join in the dance! No moves that appear tasteless or vulgar will be permitted. We invite you to have a great time, but please keep it clean!
